Thermal Baths Criteria
Feel good – High Quality Standards
Quality needs certain measurement criteria. Interviews with our guests and the permanent communication with our establishments guarantee that all relevant quality criteria for WELLNESS STARS Thermal Baths are adhered to.
Basis for all 3-star categories are the following minimum requirements:
Service
The guest can book the offered packages at least via two different distribution channels. These spa offers can be booked daily and year-round. The guest can pay these offers cashless. Information about the complete spa offers are available on site. The aqua and sauna area is open seven days a week. The changing rooms have lockers for the guests’ valuables. Guest satisfaction surveys are carried out at least every two years.
Staff
Only qualified employees with a vocational qualification and all necessary additional trainings are working in the spa area. The qualified employees are regularly trained and visit skill enhancement courses.
Facilities
The thermal bath offer an aqua and sauna area. The changing rooms are situated in the non smoking area. The sauna area offers plenty of deposit place for bags, towels etc. The facilities have at least one or various relaxation rooms with natural daylight. Additionally the outside area offers a reclining area and a separate space for the sauna guests.
Vital cuisine
There is a kiosk, bistro or a restaurant inside the thermal baths where vital dishes are offered round the clock. Every day there is one vegetarian dish as well.
Safety and technique
All maintenance actions inside the thermal baths facility are precisely documented. An emergency bell or emergency telephones are available. If the pool is deeper than 1,35m there is a pool attendant and life savers are available. Special safety precautions are prevailing for the youngest guests (non swimming children). Safety instructions for the use of the solarium, sauna and steam bath are published. The floor covering is slip-proofed. Emergency exits are visible and accessible.
Cleanliness
the spa and thermal bath area is controlled and if necessary, cleaned, at least three times a day. A daily basic cleaning is carried out. Furthermore the water quality is controlled regularly in different pools.

3 Star WELLNESS STARS Thermal Baths
Minimum Criteria:
- the well-being atmosphere can be sensed in all facilities
- there are at least 2 treatment rooms with a size of 10 sqm including a washbasin or a shower
Compensating Criteria:
- car parking facilities are in close proximity
- in the sauna area are at least 10 lounge chairs
- the thermal baths facility collaborates with a partner hotel and together they offer at least three packages
- the spa and treatment area has daylight
- the spa offers can be booked with very short notice
- there is an active complaints’ handling procedure

4 Star WELLNESS STARS Thermal Baths
Minimum Criteria:
- the overall impression of the spa facilities have to fulfill at least the requirements to obtain an average of grade 2,5. Considered are: the visual overall impression, the quality and the condition of the amenities, the coloring and the ambiance, the materials used, the space allocation plan, special architectural features, the authenticity, the decoration, the fragrances and the cleanliness.
- the facility creates in all areas a comfortable well-being atmosphere
- there are at least 3 treatments rooms with a size of 10 sqm including a washbasin or a shower
- all treatment areas (aqua, sauna, treatments) are in the same building and can be accessed in a bathrobe
- the facility offers at least 2 aquatic treatments that require an active participation of the guest. These treatments will be conducted by qualified employees.
- the guests have a fix contact person who can be reached during specified times and who can give advice and recommendations on spa related topics.
- treatments are offered in packages
- the treatment area is accessible at least 6 hours during opening days
Compensation Criteria:
- at least 30 car parking spaces are in close proximity
- the facility implemented an environmental management system
- the changing rooms have at least toilets, washbasins and hairdryers
- in the sauna area are at least 15 lounge chairs

5 Star WELLNESS STARS Thermal Baths
Minimum Criteria:
- the overall impression of the spa facilities have to fulfill at least the requirements to obtain an average of grade 1,5. Considered are: the visual overall impression, the quality and the condition of the amenities, the coloring and the ambiance, the materials used, the space allocation plan, special architectural features, the authenticity, the decoration, the fragrances and the cleanliness.
- the well-being atmosphere is continuously employed in the gastronomic offer
- there are separate areas for spa and beauty treatments
- the facility offers at least 3 aquatic treatments that require an active participation of the guest. These treatments will be conducted by qualified employees
- there are at least 4 different types of sauna
- there are at least 4 different types of massage, relaxation/regeneration treatments and at least 4 different kinds of beauty treatments
- a counter inside the treatment area is always staffed
- the treatment area is open 7 days a week and at least 8 hours per day accessible
Compensating Criteria:
- at least 50 car parking spaces are in close proximity
- the facility collaborates with one or various partner hotels and together they offer at least 5 packages
- the facility implemented an environmental management system with at least 3 procedures to save water, energy or waste.
- the changing area offers toilets, washbasins, hair-dryers, mirrors, storage space and seating facilities
- there is a Jacuzzi, a steam bath, a solarium and sufficient relaxation areas with daylight inside and outside the building
- in the sauna area are at least 20 lounge chairs
- the sauna area offers water and tea for free
